I tried to explain how I did it, but I apparently suck at explaining. So just ask if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Some stuff I forgot to mention in the tutorial:
- The ears are SUPER LIGHT! They weigh almost nothing.
- I used fabric markers in light gray, dark gray and black to color the fur, and the fur does NOT get stiff or weird to touch.
- The larger ears does NOT hinder the necomimi's movement in any way.
- You can make any ears you want! I'm gonna try to make Fran's (FFXII) ears and see if the necomimi can handle HUUUUGE bunny ears, but as long as they are pretty light, I think it will be fine:3

Since you mention the ears being rreally light - is weight a problem? I suppose it will wear the batteries out quicker if the are super heavy, but could they get to heavy for the motors to move them at one point?
Would things like earrings or such weigh them down too much?
